Homemade Buffalo Sauce

Homemade Buffalo Sauce blends melted butter, hot sauce, garlic and onion powders, Worcestershire sauce, and vinegar for a tangy, spicy sauce great for wings or dipping. The optional honey adds a touch of sweetness to balance the heat. This simple sauce can be prepared quickly on the stovetop and stored for later use.

Description

Homemade Buffalo Sauce is a classic wing sauce made by melting unsalted butter and whisking in hot sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, and white vinegar. This combination creates a smooth, well-balanced sauce with a spicy kick from the hot sauce and slight acidity and umami from the vinegar and Worcestershire. Optionally, honey may be added to introduce a subtle sweetness that counteracts the heat and rounds the flavor.

The sauce is combined off-heat to preserve the integrity and flavor of the seasonings, resulting in a velvety texture that clings to chicken or vegetables. It can be used immediately or refrigerated for up to two weeks, making it convenient for meal prep or quick flavor addition.

This sauce pairs traditionally with fried or baked chicken wings but also works well as a dip or a flavor enhancer on sandwiches and wraps.
