Ingredients

Servings

Golden Milk Spice Mix

  • ½ cup turmeric powder
  • ¼ cup ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper ground
  • 2 tablespoons ground ginger

How to Make Golden Milk Tea

  • 1 cup milk or substitute with plant based milk or combination, dairy
  • 1 teaspoon golden milk spice mix
  • coconut oil 1 tablespoon
  • 1-3 teaspoons honey maple syrup, coconut sugar, stevia, raw

Instructions

  1. For Spice Mix
  2. In a small mixing bowl, mix together turmeric, cinnamon, ginger and black pepper. If desired, pour into blender or spice mill and whir for a few seconds to blend spices well. Spoon into 8 oz (or split into 4 oz jars). Top with lid, label or tag.
  3. For Golden Milk
  4. In a small saucepan, warm 1 cup of your favorite "milk" (dairy, plant based or a combo), whisking in a teaspoon of the Golden Milk Spice Mix, 1 tablespoon coconut oil and your desired sweetener (honey, maple syrup, stevia, coconut sugar, etc).
  5. For a creamier Golden Milk Latte, whir in a blender before or after heating*. Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy. *If placing in blender, be careful when removing the lid, as the heat will cause pressure to build) or use a frother.Make by the batch, check out my Golden Milk Latte recipe. Turmeric Coffee Variation1 cup coconut milk, or substitute with your favorite dairy or plant based milk1 teaspoon Golden Milk Spice Mix1 tablespoon coconut oil 1-3 teaspoons raw honey, maple syrup, coconut sugar, or packet of stevia1-2 ounces brewed espresso (or really strong coffee)
  6. In a small saucepan; heat milk, stir in spice mix, coconut oil and sweetener until warm. Froth in frother or with hand held frother, pour over top of espresso.

Notes

  • *WARNING!!! --If blending AFTER HEATING, be careful when removing blender lid, slowly opening away from you. The heat will cause pressure to build in the blender, causing it to spit and spurt, but it does make for a beautiful creamy, golden milk latte. Or simply heat in a pan or use a frother.
  • I have also made this in my Vitamix on the heat setting, takes a few minutes, but the mixture is amazingly creamy, warm and delicious!
