Homemade Hamburger patties

These homemade hamburger patties use ground beef combined with a blend of spices including paprika, black pepper, salt, brown sugar, garlic, and onion powders. The seasoning is mixed into the meat, which is then shaped into patties, layered for freezing with parchment in between, and cooked from frozen or thawed to preferred doneness. The seasoning mix gives a balanced flavor to the burgers.

Description

The recipe involves mixing ground beef with a carefully measured mixture of paprika, black pepper, salt, brown sugar, garlic powder, and onion powder. After incorporating about three-quarters of the spice blend into the meat, it is shaped into even patties. Remaining spices are sprinkled on both sides for an extra layer of flavor. Parchment paper is placed between patties to prevent sticking, then the stack is frozen and stored in a freezer bag. Cooking can be done either directly from frozen or after thawing, with thawed burgers typically cooking more evenly.

This method simplifies meal prep by allowing batches of seasoned patties to be stored, ready to cook fresh when needed, ensuring consistent seasoning and ease of use.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 4 tsp paprika
  • 3 tsp black pepper ground
  • 2 tsp sea salt fine, ½ (half) quantity
  • 1 tsp dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder

Instructions

  1. Combine all the spices in a small bowl, mix together.
  2. In another bowl add the ground beef and about 3/4 of the spices. Mix to combine well.
  3. Shape meat into hamburger patties and layer on cookie sheet. Sprinkle both sides of burger with a little bit of leftover spice mixture. Layer parchment in between each layer of shaped hamburger patties.
  4. Freeze. After frozen solid stack into a gallon sized freezer safe bag. Label and freeze.
  5. To cook : You can cook burgers frozen or thawed. Thawed seems to work better for me, but you can do either. Cook burgers to desired doneness.
