Homemade Herbes de Provence

Homemade Herbes de Provence is a classic blend of dried herbs including oregano, thyme, savory, tarragon, basil, marjoram, parsley, anise seed, and lavender. This versatile seasoning offers a fragrant herbal mix designed to enhance Mediterranean-style dishes with floral, savory, and slightly sweet notes.

Description

This herb blend combines equal portions of oregano, thyme, savory, tarragon, basil, marjoram, and parsley with smaller amounts of anise seed and dried lavender. The mixture is gently stirred together and stored airtight to maintain its aroma and flavor.

Herbes de Provence can be used as a sprinkle over dishes before cooking or mixed with olive oil to marinate meats or fish. Its blend balances savory and aromatic elements suitable for roasting, grilling, and seasoning various Mediterranean recipes.

Adjust the blend to taste by omitting or varying certain herbs. Adding ingredients like dried orange zest, rosemary, or sage personalizes the seasoning. The dried herb mix lasts longer when stored properly and is a convenient way to add consistent flavor to meals.
