  • 1 cup (5oz/142g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (2oz/57g) dark brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ⅔ cups (4oz/115g) breadcrumb fresh
  • 1 ½ teaspoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon ground allspice
  • cup (5oz/150g) butter frozen
  • 1 inch ginger finely grated, fresh
  • 2 large egg
  • ¾ cup (7½ oz/213g)  treacle (molasses)
  • ½ cup (4floz/115ml) milk whole
  • caramel sauce spiced rum

Notes

  • Breadcrumbs: If using dried breadcrumbs you only need 3/4 cup (2oz/57g)
