Homemade Vindaloo Curry Powder – Recipe
Description
This Vindaloo Curry Powder mix is composed solely of ground spices including garlic powder, cayenne pepper for heat, paprika, ground ginger, coriander, turmeric, mustard powder, cumin, and cinnamon. The combination creates a balanced blend of warm, pungent, and spicy flavors typical for vindaloo-style dishes. It is mixed simply by combining all the ingredients thoroughly.
The powder makes about a quarter cup, serving as a concentrated seasoning to infuse heat and complexity into curries or other dishes that benefit from a layered spice profile.
The heat level can be adjusted by substituting cayenne with ghost pepper powder for a much hotter result or simply reducing the cayenne quantity to suit personal taste.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper powder Or use ghost pepper powder for a REALLY SPICY version, or use just a pinch
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1 teaspoon Coriander
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- ½ teaspoon cumin
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Combine all of the ingredients together in a bowl and mix well. Use as needed.
Notes
- This spice blend yields about a quarter cup of curry powder.
- Adjust the heat by substituting ghost pepper powder for cayenne pepper to make it much spicier, or reduce cayenne for milder heat.
