Honey Garlic Steak Bites
Description
The recipe begins with sirloin steak trimmed and diced into bite-sized cubes. These are marinated in a mixture of soy sauce, honey, and fresh minced garlic, which infuses the meat with robust, balanced flavors and a hint of sweetness. Marinating for 1 to 2 hours allows the sauce to tenderize the steak slightly.
Steak bites are cooked in batches in a hot skillet with olive oil to achieve a caramelized, golden crust on the outside while locking in juicy tenderness inside. Cooking time is brief—about 2 minutes total per side—to reach desired doneness while preventing overcooking.
Served warm, the steak bites can be garnished with green onions or sesame seeds for additional color and subtle crunch. They fit well as appetizers, on skewers, or alongside rice or vegetables for a simple meal.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs sirloin steak fat trimmed, diced into cubes just under 1-inch
- 1/3 cup soy sauce low-sodium
- 3 Tbsp honey
- 3 garlic 1 Tbsp, cloves, minced
- 2 Tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil
- green onion for garnish (optional, or sesame seeds
Instructions
- Place steak pieces in a gallon size resealable bag.
- In a mixing bowl whisk together soy sauce, honey and garlic. Pour over steak, seal bag while pressing out excess air then rub marinade over steak.
- Transfer to refrigerator and let marinate 1 - 2 hours.
- Heat 1 Tbsp oil in a heavy non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Remove half the steak from marinade, transfer to skillet (spaced apart) and let sear until golden brown, about 1 minute then flip to opposite side.
- Let continue to cook to desired doneness, about 1 minute longer (internal safe temperature is 145 degrees). Transfer to a plate and repeat with remaining steak.
- Serve warm garnished with green onions or sesame seeds if desired.
