How To Make a Gin Basil Smash
Description
How To Make a Gin Basil Smash involves bruising fresh basil leaves with simple syrup and lemon juice to extract their aromatic oils. This mixture provides a fresh herbal base that pairs with the citrusy lemon and sweet syrup. Adding good-quality gin and ice, the concoction is vigorously shaken until very chilled, creating a well-integrated and balanced cocktail.
The cocktail is then strained into a tall glass over fresh ice cubes, producing a cool, smooth drink with vibrant herbal notes and bright acidity. The muddling step is key to imparting basil's unique flavor without leaving large leaf pieces in the final drink. The result is a crisp, fragrant cocktail suitable for warm weather or as a refreshing aperitif.
