How To Make Hemp Milk (2-Ingredients)
Description
This simple hemp milk recipe calls for just two core ingredients: hulled hemp seeds and water, making it an easy plant milk to prepare at home. The ingredients are combined in a high-powered blender and blended thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Optionally, natural sweeteners such as maple syrup, honey, or pitted dates can be added to adjust the sweetness. Vanilla extract can also be included to enhance flavor.
The blended hemp milk is then stored in a sealable container and refrigerated, remaining fresh for up to five days. Adjusting the amount of water controls the milk’s thickness and creaminess depending on personal preference.
Using quality hulled hemp seeds and a strong blender contributes to a smooth texture without graininess. Freshly made hemp milk can be enjoyed on its own or used in drinks, cereals, or recipes calling for plant milk.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup hemp seeds hulled, aka hemp hearts
- 4 cups water
Optional
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey or 2-3 pitted dates
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Add hemp seeds, water, and any additional sweeteners to a high-powered blender.
- Blend for 1 minute or until the milk is nice and creamy.
- Pour the hemp milk into a sealable container (see my favorite in the notes below).
- Place it into the fridge and store it for up to 5 days.
Notes
- Reduce the amount of water to create a thicker and creamier hemp milk consistency.
- Store homemade hemp milk in air-tight containers such as juice jars to maintain freshness up to 5 days.
- Use a high-powered blender like a Vitamix for the smoothest texture without graininess.
- Hulled hemp seeds contribute to the milk's mild, nutty flavor and creamy consistency.
