Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 5-6 Large Italian Sausage Links
- ½ Cup chicken broth
- .5 teaspoon garlic
- 1 tablespoon oregano
- 1 tablespoon parsley
Instructions
- Turn your Instant Pot to sauté mode and add your oil of choice to the pot.
- Once the oil is hot, add sausages in a single layer to the bottom of the pan.
- Brown the sausages on all sides, turning so they cook evenly. This should take 5-7 minutes.
- Add broth and Italian spices to the pot.
- Set your Instant Pot to manual mode/pressure cooker mode for 14 minutes. Close the lid and start the Instant Pot.
- Allow the Instant Pot to naturally release for five minutes after the cycle has finished.
- Carefully press the quick release lever on the top of the pot to let out any additional steam, then open the pot.
- Check your sausage with a meat thermometer, it should register 160 degrees.
- Slice or add to a bun and enjoy!
Notes
- Let the sausage naturally release for 5 minutes before you push the lever to let the pressure out. This helps keep your sausage juicy. Pushing the quick release lever too soon will also quickly remove moisture from the pressure cooker and can cause meats to become dry.
- All pressure cookers do take time to come to pressure, usually about five minutes. Expect this dish will take you 5-7 minutes to brown, 5 minutes to come to pressure, 14 minutes to cook the sausage and 5 minutes to naturally release. The amount of time it takes for your pressure cooker to come to temperature can vary by a few minutes, but this recipe should take around 30-35 minutes from start to finish.
- One of the best perks of cooking sausage in the instant pot is the easy cleanup. The drippings and grease all stay right in the pot with no splattering, and it's much less messy than cooking them on the stovetop.
