How to Make the Perfect Mimosa

This recipe details a classic Mimosa cocktail made by gently combining chilled sparkling wine, such as Cava or Prosecco, with pulp-free orange juice. The bright, effervescent drink is assembled in a champagne flute without stirring to preserve bubbles. It offers a balanced citrus and sparkling flavor ideal for brunch or celebratory occasions. A fruit garnish can be added for presentation.

Description

How to Make the Perfect Mimosa involves pouring 2 ounces of pulp-free orange juice into a champagne flute, then slowly topping it off with chilled sparkling wine, like Cava or Prosecco. The pouring technique preserves the bubbles by avoiding stirring. The combination highlights the fresh, bright sweetness of the orange juice balanced by the crisp dryness of the sparkling wine.

This preparation results in a light and refreshing drink with a moderate alcohol content, commonly served at brunch or events. Using cold ingredients and chilling the sparkling wine for several hours beforehand ensures the drink stays cool and maintains its effervescence. The optional garnish of fresh fruit, such as an orange slice, adds visual appeal and a slight enhancement of citrus aroma.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 ml sparkling wine makes about 8 mimosas, bottle chilled, Cava or Prosecco
  • 16-20 ounces orange juice 2 ounces per drink, pulp-free

Instructions

  1. Open the bottle of sparkling wine.
  2. Pour 2 ounces of orange juice into a champagne flute then slowly add the champagne until the glass is full. Once the bubbles have gone down a bit, add more champagne as desired. Do not stir.
  3. Garnish with fresh fruit if desired. Cheers!

Notes

  • Use sparkling wine chilled for at least 3 hours and cold, pulp-free orange juice to keep the Mimosa refreshing without dilution.
  • Do not stir after pouring to maintain carbonation.
  • Garnishing with fresh fruit is optional but adds a nice presentation touch.
