Iced Matcha and Salted Caramel Latte

This Iced Matcha and Salted Caramel Latte combines a smooth matcha blend with creamy coconut milk and a sweet, salted caramel layer. The drink balances the earthy bitterness of matcha with the rich sweetness of caramel, creating a multi-layered iced latte that is both refreshing and indulgent. The use of coconut milk adds a subtle tropical note and creamy texture, making it a distinctive cold beverage choice.

Description

The iced latte begins with a matcha layer made by blending matcha powder, vanilla bean, coconut sugar, coconut milk, and ice until smooth. This creates a bright green layer with a fragrant, slightly sweet flavor. The salted caramel layer involves preparing caramel sauce separately in advance to ensure the ideal balance of salty and sweet flavors. In assembling, salted caramel is spooned into glasses, followed by ice and coconut milk to build a milky base. The matcha blend is then poured on top to create defined layers.

Serving this drink chilled is important to maintain the separation of flavors and visual appeal. The interplay of matcha's vegetal notes with vanilla and coconut sweetness, along with the salted caramel's richness, creates a unique sensory experience. It is a creative choice for those seeking a cold coffee alternative or a flavored iced matcha treat.

The recipe suggests preparing the salted caramel in advance to save time during assembly. Using a blender ensures the matcha layer is fully smooth, avoiding clumps. Dividing the matcha layer between two glasses allows balanced servings. Coconut sugar offers a mild sweetness that complements the vanilla bean and caramel without overwhelming the matcha.
