Iced Tea Berry Sangria

Iced Tea Berry Sangria blends chilled sweetened iced tea, moscato wine, berry juice, brandy, and fresh berries for a fruity and refreshing beverage. Surprisingly balanced, the mix offers light wine notes combined with tropical and berry flavors for a flavorful summer drink. Berries may be served in or alongside the drink, adding fresh texture and color.

Description

This Iced Tea Berry Sangria combines two quarts of chilled sweetened iced tea with a bottle of moscato wine and berry juice. Brandy adds warmth and depth, while fresh sliced strawberries and other berries contribute fresh fruit aromas and a pop of color. The ingredients are mixed in a large pitcher and chilled until serving.

The combination results in a lightly alcoholic drink with sweetness from moscato and berry juice balanced by the body of the iced tea. Serving over ice and with fresh berries enhances its refreshing character. The fresh berries can be added to the pitcher or served on the side, allowing guests to adjust their servings.

The recipe notes suggest using sweet tea or unsweetened tea sweetened to preference. Alternative sweet red wines such as Lambrusco or Malbec can be used in place of moscato. Other spirits like whiskey, dark rum, or bourbon may substitute brandy, though the flavor will differ. Brandy extract with water can also be substituted if desired.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 2 quarts iced tea chilled (see note 1, sweetened
  • 1 (750 mL) bottle moscato wine or other sweet red wine, chilled (see note 2, red
  • 2 cups Berry Juice chilled
  • 1/2 cup brandy (see note 3)
  • 2 pounds strawberries (hulled and sliced), blackberries, blueberries, and/or raspberries

Instructions

  1. In a large pitcher, combine tea, wine, juice, and brandy. Chill until serving time.
  2. Serve over ice with the berries (add berries to the pitcher of sangria, to individual glasses, or serve it in bowls on the side so guests can help themselves).

Notes

  • Use sweetened iced tea for best flavor; alternatively, sweeten unsweetened tea after mixing the other ingredients.
  • Substitute any sweet red wine like Lambrusco or Malbec if moscato is unavailable.
  • Brandy can be replaced with whiskey, dark rum, or bourbon for a different flavor profile.
  • To substitute brandy extract, use 5 teaspoons brandy extract plus 1/2 cup water instead of the brandy.
