Instant Pot Broccoli

Instant Pot Broccoli offers a quick method to steam fresh broccoli florets to the desired tenderness while maintaining color and nutrients. Using a steamer basket with a short high-pressure cooking time allows precise control over texture, from crunchy to tender. The recipe requires minimal ingredients and serves as a simple cooked vegetable side dish ready in minutes.

Description

This recipe uses broccoli heads cut into florets placed in a steamer basket inside the Instant Pot with half a cup of water. The cooking time varies: 0 minutes for crunchy, 1 minute for tender with 2-3 cups; for smaller amounts, 1 to 2 minutes allows adjustment of texture. After pressure cooking at high pressure, an immediate quick release stops cooking to prevent over-softening. Seasoning with salt and pepper is optional before serving.

The steaming method preserves the broccoli's bright green color and provides a tender but not mushy texture. It is efficient for when you need a cooked vegetable side quickly without watching over a pot or stove. The recipe makes broccoli suitable for accompanying a variety of main dishes or incorporating into other recipes.

Removing the broccoli promptly after cooking is important to stop residual heat from further softening the vegetable. This technique ensures consistent results and optimal texture.
