Instant Pot Cabbage and Noodles
Description
This one-pot recipe uses an Instant Pot to first sauté onions and garlic in butter, then brown sliced smoked kielbasa. Herbs like oregano and parsley along with Worcestershire sauce are added for flavor complexity. After deglazing with chicken broth, the pot is layered with sliced cabbage and egg noodles, which are gently pressed down into the liquid before sealing and pressure cooking briefly.
Though the noodles are not fully cooked after pressure cooking, switching to the sauté function allows them to finish cooking with stirring until tender. Adding the remaining butter at the end enriches the dish, which is then seasoned with salt and pepper to taste. This method yields tender cabbage, fully cooked noodles, and savory sausage all melded together in a flavorful broth.
This meal serves well on its own, providing a balance of protein, vegetables, and starch, making it convenient for a filling lunch or dinner. The recipe allows for flexibility in pasta choice and seasoning to adapt to available ingredients and preferences.
