Instant Pot Pot in Pot Rice

Instant Pot Pot in Pot Rice offers a convenient method to cook jasmine rice inside a stainless steel bowl set on a trivet within the pressure cooker. This technique produces fully cooked, fluffy rice without sticking to the pot. The controlled cooking environment and water immersion ensure even cooking, suitable for one or two cups of rice.

Description

This recipe uses jasmine rice rinsed until clear, then drained thoroughly before adding to a stainless steel bowl with cold water. The bowl is placed on a trivet inside the Instant Pot, with some water at the bottom of the cooker to generate steam pressure. Cooking times are seven minutes at high pressure with natural release for one cup, and fifteen minutes for two cups, allowing precise control over texture and doneness.

The pot in pot method prevents direct contact of rice with the pressure cooker base, reducing the risk of scorching and simplifies cleanup. Fluffing the rice after pressure release ensures separation of the grains.

This method is practical for home cooks using an Instant Pot who want consistent jasmine rice without the use of external containers or stovetop methods. Adjusting cooking times may be needed for different bowl materials.
