Instant Pot Sesame Salmon
Description
Instant Pot Sesame Salmon combines salmon filets with a savory blend of soy sauce, lime juice, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. The salmon cooks quickly in the Instant Pot, staying moist and infused with the sauce's balanced sweet, salty, and tangy notes. After pressure cooking, snow peas are sautéed in the reduced sauce to add texture and freshness to the dish. The sesame seeds and sriracha add subtle heat and nuttiness to the finished meal.
Serve this salmon alongside steamed rice or quinoa to enjoy the flavorful sauce fully. Its relatively simple preparation makes it a practical option for a quick weekday meal.
You can swap tamari or coconut aminos for soy sauce and use honey or maple syrup instead of brown sugar if desired. Frozen salmon can be cooked directly by increasing the pressure cook time by 2 minutes. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for up to two days.
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup soy sauce or tamari
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar or honey
- 1 lime juiced
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger minced
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- 1 teaspoon cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon sriracha
- 2 salmon filet center cut
- 1 cup snow peas optional, or snap peas
Instructions
- Whisk together all of the ingredients (except the Salmon) in the Instant Pot. Add the salmon skin side down and make sure it gets covered on all sides with the sauce. Set the Instant Pot to Pressure-Cook for 1 minute.
- When the Instant Pot has finished, release the pressure manually (be careful, it will steam). Remove the salmon and turn the Instant Pot to Saute. Add the peas and cook the sauce, stirring occasionally, until it has reduced and thickened-- about 2 minutes.
- Spoon the sauce over the salmon and enjoy immediately.
- Store any leftover salmon in an airtight container in the fridge for up to two days.
Notes
- Frozen salmon can be cooked directly by extending the Instant Pot cook time by 2 minutes.
- Tamari or coconut aminos can be substituted for soy sauce to accommodate dietary preferences.
- Honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup can replace brown sugar as the sweetener in the sauce.
- Store any leftover salmon in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within two days.
