Irish Coffee Muffins

These Irish Coffee Muffins combine coffee and Irish whiskey into a moist, tender muffin with a lightly sweetened crumb. The blend of sour cream and coffee in the batter contributes to a rich texture and depth of flavor, making them suitable for a special breakfast or brunch treat. Baking for 20 minutes yields around 18-20 muffins, which have a slightly dense and moist crumb thanks to the sour cream.

Description

Irish Coffee Muffins blend the flavors of freshly brewed coffee and Irish whiskey into a soft muffin batter enriched with sour cream. The use of baking powder and baking soda ensures the muffins rise well while maintaining a gentle crumb. Mixing the dry ingredients separately from the wet helps achieve even distribution before combining. Baking in a 400°F oven for 20 minutes results in muffins that are tender yet hold their shape well.

The combination of coffee and whiskey gives a mild, aromatic warmth without overpowering sweetness, perfect for an afternoon snack or light breakfast. These muffins pair well with butter or jam, offering a subtle adult twist on a classic muffin.

The recipe yields 18 to 20 muffins, making it ideal for gatherings or to enjoy over several days. Cooling the coffee before mixing prevents cooking the eggs prematurely and helps maintain the right muffin texture.
