Jalapeño Dip

This Jalapeño Dip combines fresh jalapeños, cilantro, cream cheese, and yogurt into a smooth, creamy sauce with a customizable level of heat. The dip blends garlic and vinegar for tang and depth, making it a spicy, tangy accompaniment to vegetables, chips, or snacks. The seed content can be adjusted to vary spiciness, making it adaptable to different tastes.

Description

The recipe involves blending softened cream cheese with plain yogurt or sour cream for a creamy base that balances the heat from fresh jalapeño peppers. Ginger is not included, so garlic provides pungency, enhanced by white vinegar for acidity. Cilantro adds herbaceous freshness.

The heat level is flexible; removing jalapeño veins and seeds reduces spiciness, whereas including seeds intensifies it. The dip is blended to smooth consistency, making it easy to spread or scoop. Serving recommendations include bell peppers, mini sweet peppers, or tortilla chips, highlighting its versatility as a snack or appetizer component.

If the dip becomes too spicy, extra yogurt or cream cheese can mellow the heat. Additional heat can be introduced with more jalapeños or red pepper flakes for those preferring a sharper kick. This adaptability suits varying palates and occasions.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 1 cilantro stems removed, bunch
  • 4 jalapeno pepper stem removed
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 1 cup yogurt or sour cream, plain, Greek
  • 1-2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 TBSP white vinegar
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients in your trusty food processor or blender and blend to creamy perfection! It's that easy!
  2. For a custom spice level, feel free to remove the seeds from the peppers and keep them on the side. Then simply add as many seeds back in as you'd like and blend. The more seeds you add, the spicier the dip will be!

Notes

  • To reduce heat, remove jalapeño seeds and veins before blending; for more heat, add whole seeds or extra peppers.
  • If the dip is too spicy, mellow it by stirring in additional yogurt or cream cheese.
  • For greater spice intensity, consider adding red pepper flakes or extra jalapeños cautiously.
  • Pairs well with sliced bell peppers, mini sweet peppers, or crispy tortilla chips for dipping.
