Katsu Sando (Pork Cutlet Sandwich)
Description
Using either freshly fried or reheated tonkatsu-style pork cutlet ensures a crispy exterior and juicy interior. The pork is placed between slices of soft milk bread spread with whole grain mustard on one side and tonkatsu sauce on the other, providing a balance of sharp and sweet savoriness. Shredded lettuce or cabbage adds a fresh, crunchy texture that cuts through the richness of the fried cutlet. Pressing the sandwich together helps the flavors meld, and slicing it cleanly reveals its layered structure.
This sandwich is best eaten fresh to enjoy the contrast in textures and flavors, making it a satisfying lunch or snack with familiar Japanese comfort food elements.
