Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1-2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp Gochugaru or more
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce low sodium preferred
  • 1 tbsp dark soy sauce or low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 plash mirin

Garnish

  • toasted sesame seeds
  • green onions

For the Rice Bowls

  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • 2 cucumbers sliced
  • 1-2 sauteed julienne carrots

Instructions

  1. Add the sesame oil to a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground turkey and cook until half cooked, breaking up the turkey as you go along.
  2. Add the brown sugar, garlic powder, onion powder, gochugaru, soy sauce, and mirin to the turkey.
  3. Continue to cook until the turkey is cooked through and most of the sauce is cooked down.
  4. Assemble your bowls by adding the turkey over some rice, garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, and serve it with some vegetables. Serve with a spicy sauce if you desire.
