Lavender Lemonade
Description
Lavender Lemonade is crafted by infusing honey with dried lavender flowers and water, which delivers a subtle floral sweetness. Once infused and strained, this concentrate is combined with freshly squeezed lemon juice—preferably from Meyer lemons for their sweeter profile—and cold water to create a light, aromatic lemonade. The method includes a gentle simmer to extract flavor from lavender without bitterness, resulting in a delicately flavored drink that highlights both the citrus brightness and floral notes.
The sweetness level can be adjusted, allowing for customization from more tart to sweeter depending on preference. Serving over ice with lemon slices and fresh lavender flowers adds visual appeal and brightness. Meyer lemons, when used, contribute a milder lemon flavor that complements the lavender rather than overpowering it, making the lemonade more nuanced.
This lemonade is appropriate for refreshing non-alcoholic drinks at seasonal occasions or leisurely consumption. The infusion process requires a bit of patience during the 30-minute steeping, but the outcome is a thoughtfully balanced beverage with floral complexity. Adjusting sweeteners or using other natural options like maple syrup is possible to best suit taste and dietary needs.
