Maitre d'Hotel Butter Recipe

Maitre d'Hotel Butter combines softened unsalted butter with fresh parsley, lemon zest and juice, Dijon mustard, and a hint of smoked paprika. This compound butter melds bright citrus notes with herbal and slight smoky flavors, enhancing meats, vegetables, and breads when served. It is chilled after mixing to develop the flavors and shape, making it convenient to slice and apply as needed.

Description

The Maitre d'Hotel Butter Recipe creates a flavorful compound butter by blending room-temperature unsalted butter with finely minced fresh parsley, grated lemon zest, a touch of lemon juice, Dijon mustard, fine sea salt, and a dash of smoked paprika. Mixing these ingredients together intensifies the fresh herbal and citrus qualities. Once formed into a log using wax paper and refrigerated until firm for at least an hour, the butter is ready to be sliced onto grilled steaks, steamed vegetables, or crusty bread, adding a bright and slightly tangy richness.

This preparation balances creamy butter with citrus and herbaceous notes, offering a simple way to elevate common dishes. The Dijon mustard thickens the mixture slightly and adds a subtle depth, while the smoked paprika provides a faint smoky background flavor.

For best use, allow the butter to soften slightly at room temperature for easier spreading. Store any unused portions wrapped in wax paper and refrigerated to maintain freshness and flavor.
