Margarita Floats

Margarita Floats are refreshing cocktails that combine a shaken blend of tequila, lime juice, simple syrup, and orange liqueur, served over crushed ice and topped with scoops of citrus sherbet or sorbet. The glasses are rimmed with tajin or margarita salt, adding a zesty, slightly spicy contrast. This cocktail balances tart, sweet, and boozy notes with creamy sherbet floats for a layered drink experience.

Description

This Margarita Floats recipe involves rimming glasses with lime juice and dipping them in tajin or margarita salt for a flavorful edge. The drink base is shaken with ice to chill and mix tequila blanco, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, and Grand Marnier or a comparable orange liqueur. The shaking produces a frothy mixture that is poured over crushed ice in the prepared glasses.

One or two scoops of lemon, lime, or orange sherbet or sorbet are gently added on top, creating a creamy float that slowly melts and mingles with the cocktail. The combination produces a textured, multi-layered drink with the warmth of alcohol balanced by the sorbet’s cold sweetness and citrus flavors.

These floats serve well as festive beverages suited for warm weather or casual entertaining where guests can enjoy a visually appealing and flavorful twist on the classic margarita.
