Mediterranean Deviled Eggs

Mediterranean Deviled Eggs present hard-boiled eggs filled with a creamy blend of Greek yogurt, feta cheese, fresh dill, and Aleppo pepper, creating a savory and slightly spicy filling. The eggs offer a lighter twist on the classic deviled eggs with a tangy, herb-infused profile.

Description

To prepare, eggs are boiled for 7 minutes then cooled in ice water before peeling. The yolks are removed, mashed, and mixed with Greek yogurt, crumbled feta, chopped fresh dill, Aleppo pepper, kosher salt, and black pepper. This mixture produces a creamy filling that balances the tang of yogurt and feta with herbaceous dill and mild heat from Aleppo pepper.

The filling is spooned or piped back into the egg whites halves. Additional Aleppo pepper and dill can be sprinkled on top for presentation and flavor. These deviled eggs offer a refreshing variation suitable for appetizers or light snacks, pairing nicely with Mediterranean-themed meals.

They are best served chilled. Leftovers keep refrigerated up to 3 days but are not recommended for freezing due to texture and flavor changes. Hard boiled eggs can be prepared up to two days in advance to save time during assembly.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 6 egg
  • 1/3 cup yogurt
  • 2 tbsp feta cheese
  • 1/4 cup dill chopped, fresh
  • 1 tsp Aleppo pepper
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Instructions

To Make Hard Boiled Eggs

  1. Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with water so that it's 1 inch above the eggs. Place over medium high heat and bring to a boil.
  2. Boil for 7 minutes, turn the heat off, remove the eggs from the saucepan and place them in a bowl of ice water.
  3. Let the eggs cool completely and then peel them.

To Make The Deviled Eggs

  1. Slice the hard boiled eggs in half lengthwise and scoop out the yolks. Transfer them to a bowl and mash them using a fork.
  2. Mix the yolks with Greek yogurt, feta, dill, Aleppo pepper, kosher salt and pepper. For smoother texture, use a food processor.
  3. Fill the egg whites with the filling. Top with Aleppo pepper and more dill if desired.

Notes

  • Store leftovers airtight in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; avoid freezing to maintain texture and flavor.
  • Hard boiled eggs can be cooked up to 2 days before assembling the deviled eggs and kept refrigerated.
