Monkey Bread

Monkey Bread is a pull-apart sweet bread made from canned buttermilk biscuit pieces coated in cinnamon sugar and baked with a butter and brown sugar glaze. The pieces caramelize in the oven, creating a sticky, sweet, and tender treat with an easy-to-serve presentation.

Description

This Monkey Bread recipe uses refrigerated buttermilk biscuits cut into quarters, coated thoroughly in a cinnamon and granulated sugar mixture. The coated biscuit pieces are placed in a greased bundt pan, optionally topped with chopped pecans for added texture and flavor.

A hot butter and brown sugar glaze is boiled briefly and poured over the biscuit pieces, which then bake at 350 degrees until golden and caramelized. The baking transforms the sugar into a sticky crust while the biscuits remain soft inside, producing a sweet bread that easily pulls apart.

After baking, the bread is allowed to cool slightly before inverting and serving. This method yields a flavorful and festive treat suitable for breakfast, brunch, or dessert, with a rich cinnamon-sugar taste and a moist crumb accented by the buttery glaze and optional nuts.
