Oat Bran Power Bowl

The Oat Bran Power Bowl features cooked oat bran softened in boiling water and finished with a mix of dark brown sugar, assorted chopped dried fruits, nuts, and seeds. Topped with milk or plant-based alternatives, this dish offers a creamy texture with varied crunch and sweetness. It's a filling, nutrient-rich breakfast or snack that balances fiber and natural sweetness with wholesome add-ins.

Description

This recipe prepares oat bran by whisking it slowly into boiling salted water to prevent clumping, then covering and letting it sit off heat to hydrate fully. The cooked oat bran provides a smooth base which is then portioned into bowls. A topping mixture including walnuts, cashews, pistachios, almonds, and various dried fruits like apricots, dates, cranberries, and tropical dried fruit pieces adds textural contrast and bursts of flavor. Seeds like pumpkin, sunflower, flax, and chia introduce additional nutrients and texture. A sprinkle of dark brown sugar enhances sweetness, and milk or alternatives moisten the bowl further, creating a creamy but textured dish. This combination suits those wanting a hearty, fiber-rich start to their day or a sustaining snack.
