Orange Sauce

Orange Sauce combines fresh orange juice, sugars, rice vinegar, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes cooked to a thickened glaze with cornstarch and brightened by orange zest. This sauce balances sweet, tangy, savory, and mildly spicy flavors.

Description

The sauce begins by simmering orange juice, white and brown sugars, rice vinegar, soy sauce, minced fresh ginger, finely diced garlic, and red pepper flakes together, infusing the liquid with aromatic warmth and balanced heat. A cornstarch slurry is added to thicken the mixture, creating a glossy consistency suitable as a glaze or dipping sauce.

Finishing with fresh orange zest adds fragrant oils and a fresh citrus brightness that enhances complexity. The sauce’s sweet and savory profile with subtle heat makes it versatile for glazing meats, vegetables, or as a flavorful accompaniment. The cooking method ensures the raw pungency of garlic and ginger mellows while retaining vibrancy.
