Papaya Paste - Natural Meat tenderizer Recipe

Green papaya is transformed into a natural meat tenderizer by blending chunks of the raw fruit with just enough water to create a smooth paste. The process preserves the skin and uses the green, unripe papaya to provide enzymes that help break down meat fibers. The resulting paste is portioned and frozen in small cubes for convenient use in meat preparation.

Description

The Papaya Paste recipe uses a small green papaya blended to a smooth consistency with minimal added water to maintain its enzymatic properties. This paste serves as a natural meat tenderizer, leveraging papaya's proteolytic enzymes to soften tougher cuts of meat before cooking. The preparation keeps the skin on the papaya chunks, which may add to the nutrient content, and avoids watering down the paste excessively to retain potency.

After blending, the paste is portioned into ice cube trays and frozen, allowing for easy thawing and use later. This step also aids in storage efficiency and preserves the paste's quality. Users can add one or two cubes of this paste to their meat marinating process as desired, ensuring meat is tenderized without altering flavor significantly.

The process is straightforward and requires only a fresh green papaya and water, with no additional ingredients or complex steps. This simple natural tenderizer is suitable for cooks seeking an alternative to commercial tenderizers, using an ingredient they can prepare and store themselves.
