Pasta Chips

Pasta Chips transform cooked farfalle pasta into a crunchy, golden snack seasoned with Parmesan, Italian herbs, and garlic powder. Air-fried until crisp, these chips offer a unique way to enjoy pasta beyond traditional dishes, combining the flavors of cheese and herbs with a crunchy texture that can be dipped in marinara sauce. They are a creative snack for those interested in a savory bite with familiar pasta elements.

Description

Pasta Chips are made by cooking farfalle pasta until al dente, then tossing it with olive oil, freshly grated Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and sea salt. The seasoned pasta is spread in a single layer in an air fryer and cooked at high heat until it achieves a crunchy, golden-brown finish. Air frying concentrates the texture, creating a chip-like crispness while preserving the pasta's shape.

The chips carry the rich flavor of Parmesan and a savory herb blend complemented by the subtle sharpness of garlic powder and sea salt. The contrast between the savory coating and crunchy texture offers a different experience from soft pasta. These chips can be served warm or at room temperature.

They can be conveniently served with marinara sauce for dipping, providing a familiar Italian-inspired accompaniment. These are suitable for snack time or as an appetizer option for gatherings, offering a crunchy alternative within Italian flavors.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 8 oz pasta farfalle variety
  • 1 ½ teaspoons olive oil
  • ½ cup Parmesan Cheese fresh grated
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder or granules
  • ¾ teaspoon sea salt plus more to taste
  • ½ cup marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Cook pasta according to the package instructions, until al dente. Drain, but no need to rinse.
  2. Add cooked pasta to a large bowl with olive oil, parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, garlic powder and sea salt. Toss until coated.
  3. Place seasoned pasta into your air fryer in a single layer and air fry on 400°F for 10 minutes or until pasta is nice and golden brown and crunchy. Toss once or twice while the pasta is cooking. You may need to do this in batches, depending on the size of your air fryer. I actually put the whole batch in my air fryer and it worked, but it took 20 minutes instead of 10.
  4. Once pasta chips are cooked, remove from the air fryer, let cool and enjoy. They're delicious served up with marinara sauce.
