Perfect Instant Pot Rice

This recipe guides you through making jasmine rice in an Instant Pot using rinsed rice, water, and optional salt. Rinsing removes excess starch for fluffy rice. Cooking under high pressure ensures evenly cooked grains. The result is tender, separate jasmine rice, ideal as a side dish. Fluffing before serving helps to separate grains for light texture.

Description

The Perfect Instant Pot Rice recipe starts by rinsing jasmine rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear, removing surface starch to prevent clumping. The rinsed, well-drained rice is combined with an equal amount of cold water and optionally fine sea salt in the Instant Pot. The pressure cooker is sealed and set to high pressure for 3 minutes, followed by a natural release of 10 minutes, ensuring the rice cooks evenly without becoming mushy.

After cooking, the rice is fluffed gently with a fork to separate grains and create a light texture. This method reliably produces jasmine rice with a tender yet separated consistency. The recipe notes that using the Instant Pot's rice measuring cup correlates water and rice volumes for best results.

The cooked rice can be served warm alongside main dishes. Adding salt is optional and adjusts the seasoning according to taste.
