Protein French Toast

Protein French Toast uses thick slices of brioche soaked in a mixture of eggs, egg whites, almond milk, vanilla protein powder, vanilla extract, stevia, and cinnamon. Pan-cooked until golden brown, this version adds protein punch and flavor to classic French toast. It can be served with butter, maple syrup, powdered sugar, or fresh berries to complement the sweet, spiced base.

Description

Protein French Toast starts with dipping brioche bread slices in a batter composed of eggs, egg whites, almond milk, and vanilla protein powder. Additional flavorings include vanilla extract, stevia as a sweetener, and cinnamon for warm spice notes. This mixture coats the bread, allowing it to soak up flavor and moisture before pan-cooking. Cooking on medium heat until browned ensures a slightly crisp exterior with a soft, custardy interior.

The protein powder increases the nutritional value compared to traditional French toast, making it suitable for those seeking an extra protein boost at breakfast or brunch. The choice of bread allows flexibility for dietary preferences, including gluten-free or whole wheat options. The suggested toppings like butter, maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh berries add customization for taste and texture.

Enjoy this dish fresh from the pan to maintain the balance of textures. Leftovers store well refrigerated for up to five days or frozen for up to three months. Reheating in an air fryer or toaster oven helps restore the outer crispness effectively.

For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free bread such as a gluten-free challah. To make dairy-free, substitute almond milk or other non-dairy milk and ensure protein powder is dairy-free.Store cooled French toast in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days.Freeze cooked French toast in a sealed bag for up to three months; reheat in air fryer or toaster oven. Before reheating, spray French toast with cooking spray to help crisp the surface again.
