Rainbow Fruit Smoothie Recipes

Ingredients

Servings

Green Layer:

  • 2 tablespoons hemp seeds
  • 1 tablespoon matcha powder
  • 1 avocado small or half a large one
  • 1 banana
  • 3 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 cup spinach leaves
  • 1/2 cup mango chunks frozen
  • 3/4 cup pineapple chunks

Pink Layer:

  • 2 beets fresh, peeled and quartered
  • 1 cup raspberries fresh or frozen
  • 1 cup blueberries fresh or frozen
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup pineapple juice

Yellow Layer:

  • 2 cups mango chunks frozen
  • 1 banana
  • 1 cup orange juice
  • 2 passion fruits
  • 1 teaspoon chia seeds

Notes

  • Always always always make sure you have a high quality blender. I use a Vitamix and love it.
  • Choose a main flavor to highlight and then build on that. For example if it lacks sweetness, think of a secondary fruit to make up for that.
  • If it's a fruit that's thin when juiced, think of adding a thickener such as banana or avocado or nut butter to your smoothie. 
  • Freezing a large part of the fruits beforehand is important to keep the smoothies thick and cold, however store bought frozen fruit chunks work just as great!
  • Adding seeds, nuts, spices and roots to your smoothies is always a plus!
  • Finally on layering the smoothies. I noticed that pouring one over the other doesn't always create those gorgeous layers. It seems like some are thicker and more viscous in texture so it's best to pour only the bottom layer into the cup. Then use a large spoon or small ladle to gently add in the second layer and rinse off the spoon well, then repeat with the third layer :)
