Rainbow Waffles

Rainbow Waffles use a standard waffle mix colored with gels in red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. The batter is divided and colored separately, then piped in concentric circles to create a layered rainbow effect. Cooking the waffle allows the colors to set into a vibrant, soft waffle with a visually layered pattern. These waffles serve well with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles, making them appealing for special breakfasts or brunches that emphasize color and fun presentation.

Description

Rainbow Waffles are prepared by dividing a batter made from boxed waffle mix into portions, each dyed a different color using gel food coloring. The colored batters are piped one inside another on the preheated waffle iron to create layers of vibrant colors. Cooking sets the waffles with distinct, colorful rings arranged from purple on the outer edge to red at the center. The finished waffles are soft with a slight crispness at the edges typical of waffles. They are served topped with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles, enhancing the festive appearance and providing a creamy contrast. This method highlights the visual appeal while keeping the familiar waffle texture. The recipe suits occasions where colorful and playful breakfast items are desired, pleasing both adults and children with its bright presentation and classic flavor.
