Ingredients
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ⅛ teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 pound fresh figs halved lengthwise
- cooking spray
Instructions
- Position a broiler rack 6 inches from the heat source and preheat your broiler. Coat a large cooking sheet with cooking spray.
- In a small bowl, mix together the sugar and spices.
- One at a time, dip the figs, cut side down, into the sugar mixture to coat. Then coat the figs a second time with the sugar mixture and arrange cut side up on the baking sheet.
- Broil the figs, watching closely, for about 4 minutes, or until the sugar melts and begins to caramelize and figs soften slightly and begin to ooze their juice. Serve immediately.
Notes
- Choose ripe figs for the best results.
- Leftovers will stay fresh in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
