Salisbury Steak

Salisbury Steak is classic comfort food. Delicious beef patties are cooked in a flavorful onion gravy for a quick and easy weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds ground beef 80/20 blend
  • ½ cup Panko bread crumbs
  • 1/3 cup onion finely diced
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce 
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Onion Gravy:

  • 1 medium onion finely sliced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce 
  • 2 teaspoons ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons flour

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl combine the ground beef, bread crumbs, diced onions, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Thoroughly mix ingredients together.
  2. Form beef mixture into oval patties weighing approximately 6 ounces each.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil. Add beef patties to the skillet and cook on both sides until the center is no longer pink. You may need to work in batches depending on the size of your skillet. Place cooked patties aside.
  4. Once all patties are cooked reduce the heat to medium and make the onion gravy by adding 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the skillet along with the sliced onions. Cook the onions for approximately 10 minutes, medium-high, until they are caramelized. Set onions aside.
  5. In a large bowl or measuring cup, combine beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and ketchup. Add flour and whisk until no lumps remain.
  6. Pour the broth mixture into the skillet and cook until the sauce begins to thicken.
  7. Add beef and onions back to the skillet, spooning the gravy over the beef, and let the beef cook in the gravy for another 10 minutes.
  8. Enjoy!
