Description
This dip starts by cooking Italian sausage until fully browned, then reducing heat to low to melt cubes of cream cheese and Velveeta into the meat. Adding diced tomatoes with chiles and Worcestershire sauce, along with optional garlic and onion powders, creates a richly flavored, creamy mixture that simmers until bubbly.
The dip offers a mix of spicy and savory flavors with a smooth, cheesy texture and a mild heat from the chiles. It's suitable for parties or casual snacking and pairs well with chips, crackers, or sliced vegetables.
The recipe can be adapted for slow cooker use by transferring all ingredients after browning the sausage and cooking on low for two hours to meld flavors and maintain heat.
Ingredients
- 16 ounces Italian sausage mild or hot
- 1 package cream cheese 8 ounce
- 1 pound processed cheese Velveeta
- 1 can tomatoes with chiles Rotel, 10 ounce
- 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder optional
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder optional
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausage and cook it, stirring, until no pink remains.
- Drain an excess fat out of the skillet.
- Reduce the healt to low. Cut the processed cheese and cream cheese into cubes, then add to the skillet with the sausage. Stir until the cheese is almost melted.
- Add the can of tomatoes and Worchestershire sauce. Add the garlic and onion powder if you are using them.
- Cook and stir for 5 minutes until bubbly.
- Serve warm with chips, vegetables or crackers.
Notes
- You can prepare this dip in a Crock Pot by combining all ingredients after browning the sausage and cooking on low for 2 hours to keep it warm and melted.
