Shrimp Tacos with Slaw Recipe
Description
This recipe for Shrimp Tacos with Slaw starts with shrimp coated in taco seasoning, salt, and oil, cooked briefly on the stovetop to retain juiciness and a slightly firm texture. The slaw is made by tossing shredded cabbage with a creamy sauce blended from cilantro, sour cream, mayonnaise, pickled jalapeños, lime juice, green onion, and garlic, introducing a fresh, tangy complement to the seasoned shrimp.
The shrimp and slaw are served in warm corn or flour tortillas, which provide a flexible base. Optional toppings such as cotija cheese, avocado, minced red onion, pickled jalapeño slices, and lime wedges allow customization with extra savory, creamy, or acidic notes. The combination contrasts the savory seasoned shrimp with the crisp, creamy slaw for balanced mouthfeel and flavor.
If using store-bought taco seasoning, it is important to taste and adjust salt levels accordingly, since many pre-made mixes include salt. The quick cooking method ensures the shrimp remain tender without overcooking.
