Slow Cooker 3-Bean Turkey Chili
Description
This turkey chili features browned ground turkey and onions simmered with three types of beans—chickpeas, black beans, and red beans—and tomatoes in a slow cooker. The mix of chili powder and cumin seasons the dish, enhancing the tomato base and uniting the beans and meat. The slow cooking process allows flavors to deepen over several hours, resulting in a thick, stew-like chili.
The chili is cooked either on low for 10 to 12 hours or high for 6 to 8, or it can be pressure-cooked for 25 minutes with natural release. The use of lean turkey breast keeps the protein content high and fat relatively low. Optional toppings like shredded cheddar, avocado, and sour cream can add creaminess and extra flavor notes.
Serve the chili hot garnished with chopped onions and fresh cilantro for brightness and texture. It works well as a filling main dish, especially suitable for cool weather or when a warming meal is desired.
