Slow Cooker Holiday Ham
Description
This recipe uses an 8-pound spiral-cut bone-in ham placed in a slow cooker, where it is coated with brown sugar and studded with whole cloves that infuse the meat during cooking. A glaze made from orange marmalade, Dijon mustard, freshly squeezed orange juice, and orange zest is poured over the ham, layering bright citrus flavors with the richness of marmalade and the tanginess of mustard.
Cooking on low heat for 4 to 5 hours gently warms the ham through while allowing the glaze and cloves to permeate the meat. Basting periodically helps maintain moisture and intensifies the glaze's coverage. The slow cooking ensures a tender texture that pulls apart easily while keeping the spiral-cut slices intact.
This ham is served warm, making it suitable for holiday dinners or special occasions where hands-off cooking is preferred. The orange and brown sugar glaze provides a fragrant complement to the natural savoriness of the ham.
