Smoked Chicken Breast
Description
This recipe involves seasoning boneless, skinless chicken breasts with olive oil, sea salt, and a chosen rub before placing them in a smoker preheated to 225-250°F. Smoking for around an hour develops flavor and cooks the chicken evenly. An internal temperature of 160°F indicates readiness, after which the breasts are wrapped in foil and rested until reaching 165°F for safe consumption and retained moisture.
The smoked chicken can be served sliced on its own or incorporated into various dishes such as salads, wraps, fried rice, or alongside mashed potatoes. The seasoning flexibility allows customization to various flavor profiles depending on the rub used.
For even cooking, select chicken breasts of similar size. Brining the chicken using sea salt flakes beforehand can enhance juiciness but requires attention to salt type. The resting period post-smoking improves tenderness and prevents drying out.
