Spaghetti Pie
Description
Spaghetti Pie starts with cooked spaghetti combined with beaten eggs, Parmesan cheese, and butter, pressed into a pie plate to form a firm crust. A layer of cottage cheese adds creamy tang, followed by a seasoned ground beef mixture cooked in spaghetti sauce. Baked at 350°F, this layered dish finishes with a mozzarella cheese topping melted in the oven. The pie sets while resting before slicing for neat wedges.
The textures vary from the tender pasta crust that holds the pie together to the creamy cottage cheese and hearty meat sauce filling, balanced by the melted mozzarella cheese topping. The savory flavors come through in the tomato-rich spaghetti sauce combined with the mild cheeses and seasoned beef.
This pie can be served as a complete main meal and pairs well with a simple salad or steamed vegetables for added freshness. It is convenient for family dinners and leftovers reheat well.
The recipe is suitable for make-ahead and freezing. Before baking, the assembled pie can be refrigerated or frozen. Baking times will increase when cooking from chilled or frozen states. Allowing the pie to cool and set for 5-10 minutes before slicing is important to ensure clean cuts and maintain the shape.
