Strawberry Banana Pineapple Smoothie
Description
This smoothie recipe uses frozen whole strawberries and previously frozen ripe banana chunks to create a cold, thick base. Pineapple juice adds tropical sweetness and liquid to blend the fruits smoothly without being too watery. The blending process creates a creamy consistency, with the bananas lending natural fluffiness when blended longer.
The mixture is combined just until smooth and creamy, preserving the fruit’s fresh flavors and natural sugars. This drink highlights the natural balance of sweetness and tartness from the strawberry and pineapple while offering the creamy texture of banana for a filling yet light smoothie.
The smoothie portion serves two glasses and is best enjoyed immediately to retain optimal texture and freshness. Leftover smoothie can be stored airtight in the freezer for up to a month, but should be thawed at room temperature for about 30 minutes before serving to soften.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces strawberries about 2 cups, I used whole, frozen berries
- 2 banana peeled (previously frozen into chunks is ideal, medium ripe
- pineapple juice or as necessary (substitute with orange juice or your favorite juice medley, about 1 cup
Instructions
- To the canister of a blender, add the strawberries, bananas, and about 1/2 cup juice. Add enough juice only as necessary to get blender moving and until desired smoothie consistency is reached.
- Blend on high power until smooth and creamy. The longer you blend, the fluffier the mixture tends to become due to the bananas.
- Pour mixture into 2 glasses and serve immediately. Extra portion will keep airtight in the freezer for up to 1 month (cover a freezer-safe glass with plasticwrap or place inside a ziplock to prevent freezer smells). Allow to come up to room temp for about 30 minutes before serving.
