Taco Lasagna

Taco Lasagna layers seasoned ground beef and onions between flour tortillas, topped with a creamy cheese sauce and fresh salsa. The dish combines the textures of soft tortillas with melted cheese and savory beef, creating a hearty casserole inspired by traditional lasagna but with southwestern flavors. Toppings like shredded lettuce, tomatoes, and optional sour cream add freshness and balance. This recipe is a filling main course suitable for casual gatherings or family dinners.

Description

Taco Lasagna assembles layers of ground beef cooked with taco seasoning, onions, and garlic, interspersed with flour tortillas. A cheese sauce made from milk, flour, cheddar cheese, salt, and paprika adds creaminess and depth. Fresh salsa introduces a tangy contrast, while a Mexican cheese blend finishes the dish with a melted topping. The tortillas are torn to fit and layered, making it easier to assemble in a 9x13 pan. It is baked to meld the flavors and textures, yielding a rich, cheesy casserole with a mix of smooth sauce, tender tortillas, and spiced beef.

The interplay of the savory beef layer with the creamy cheese sauce and bright salsa makes this dish stand out from traditional lasagna. Adding shredded lettuce, diced tomato, and cilantro as garnish brings a fresh, crisp element. Optional sour cream can add a cool, tangy finish that complements the spices.

This casserole suits family meals or casual entertaining where Tex-Mex-inspired comfort food is desired. It can be served as is or alongside a simple salad to lighten the plate.
