Taco Salad Recipe

This Taco Salad Recipe layers butter lettuce with corn, ripe avocado, seasoned ground meat, tomatoes, cheddar cheese, black olives, and cilantro. The combination of fresh vegetables and warm taco-seasoned meat creates a colorful salad with varied textures and flavors. Crunchy Doritos garnish the edges, adding a salty crunch and completing the dish.

Description

The Taco Salad Recipe builds a bed of prewashed butter lettuce topped with ingredients typically found in tacos: cooked ground meat seasoned with taco spices, sweet corn, creamy avocado, juicy quartered tomatoes, grated cheddar cheese, sliced black olives, and fresh chopped cilantro. The layering allows each bite to include a mix of crisp, creamy, salty, and savory elements.

The salad provides a combination of cold fresh vegetables and warm meat, maintaining textural variety. Doritos are arranged around the platter's edges, adding an additional crunchy texture and a touch of saltiness that complements the other ingredients.

This salad works well as a casual meal or as part of a party spread. It can serve as a lighter alternative to traditional tacos or as a shared dish for gatherings. The straightforward assembly makes it convenient to prepare and serve immediately.

Ingredients

Servings
  • 6 oz. butter lettuce 1 whole plastic container of the prewashed stuff
  • 2/3 cup corn rinsed well!, canned, sweet
  • 1 large avocado ripe
  • 1 lb. ground meat prepared with an Old El Paso taco seasoning packet...use the directions on the package!, warm, for taco meat
  • 8 tomato quartered, Campari
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese grated
  • 2/3 cup black olives sliced
  • 2 tablespoons cilantro chopped
  • Nacho Doritos

Instructions

  1. Pile the entire container of lettuce onto a serving platter. Line ingredients for salad overtop lettuce in any order you'd like. According to this picture, I did corn, avocado, meat, tomatoes, cheese, olives, and then topped the whole thing with chopped cilantro.
  2. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Tuck Doritos chips around the edges of the platter and serve!
