Taro Fries (Air Fryer, Oven & Stovetop)
Description
Taro Fries are made by peeling taro roots and slicing them evenly into fry shapes. The use of a neutral cooking oil and basic seasoning with salt allows the natural flavor of taro to shine. Optional spices such as Kashmiri red chili powder, turmeric, and cumin powder add mild heat, earthiness, and color.
The cooking process can be done in an air fryer set at 380°F for 15-17 minutes, flipping halfway for even crisping. Alternatively, baking at 400°F on a single-layer baking sheet for 25-30 minutes with a flip creates a crispy exterior. Pan-frying in hot oil until golden brown provides a classic fry texture and flavor.
Taro fries are ready to serve alone or with sauces. Their crisp outside and soft inside make a nice side or snack, with seasoning easily adapted to taste. Handling taro carefully with gloves is advised to avoid irritation.
