Teriyaki Rice Burger consists of rice patties made from a blend of short grain and glutinous rice, cooked and then shaped to replace typical bread buns. The filling is a seasoned mixture of minced meat, finely cooked onions, egg, and panko crumbs, seasoned with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, formed into patties and pan-fried until browned. The teriyaki sauce, thickened with potato starch, coats the patties, giving them a glossy, savory-sweet layer.   • 2 cups short grain rice
  • 1 cup glutinous rice sticky rice
  • 250 g mince
  • 1 onion small
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup panko crumbs
  • Pinch salt Pepper & Nutmeg
  • 1 cup teriyaki sauce
  • 1 tbs potato starch potato starch, Katakuriko
  • 4 lices tomato
  • lettuce leaves
  • sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice and cook according to your rice cooker instructions or if you don't have a rice cooker look here.
  2. Cut the onion finely and cook them in a frying pan over low heat till brown.
  3. Place the mince, egg, panko crumbs, salt, pepper, nutmeg and onion into a large bowl and mix them well.
  4. Divide the mince mixture into 4 small balls and shape them into flat circle patties.
  5. Heat some cooking oil in a large frying pan and cook the mince pattiess over medium heat.
  6. Cook until meat is cooked through and patties are browned on both sides then put aside.
  7. Follow the Teriyaki Sauce recipe then mix the Katakuriko with 2 tbs of water and add it to the teriyaki sauce and continuously stir till the sauce is thickened.
  8. Prepare the rice patties then place the patties, teriyaki sauce, lettuce, and tomato into the rice buns then sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve!

Notes

  • Using molds designed for thick pancakes helps form consistent rice patties that hold together well during frying and assembly.
