Texas Roadhouse Herb Crusted Chicken Recipe
Description
This recipe prepares boneless, skinless chicken breasts by pounding them flat, allowing for quicker and more even cooking. The herb crust combines dried dill, basil, oregano along with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper, giving the chicken a deeply savory and slightly smoky profile. Cooking the chicken in olive oil over medium-high heat develops a browned and crispy surface while keeping the interior moist.
After searing both sides, lowering the heat ensures the chicken cooks through without burning. The finishing touch of lemon juice adds acidity and freshness to the herb-coated chicken, complementing the flavors and balancing richness. The recipe suggests resting the chicken briefly to allow juices to redistribute, yielding tender results.
Using a meat thermometer is recommended for accuracy and food safety. Leftovers store well refrigerated for up to five days in an airtight container, making this a practical choice for meal prep or weekday dinners.
Ingredients
- 4 chicken breast boneless skinless
- 2 Tablespoons dill dried
- 2 Tablespoons basil dried
- 2 Tablespoons oregano dried
- 2 Tablespoons garlic powder
- 1 Teaspoon paprika
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 2 teaspoons black pepper
- 2 Tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- lemon juiced
Instructions
- Mix all the seasonings together in a small bowl.
- Place the chicken breasts in between plastic wrap and use a large wooden spoon or mallet to flatten the chicken breasts.
- Season both sides of the chicken breasts with the seasoning mixture.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium high heat. Add the chicken breasts to the pan and cook for 5 minutes on each side until both sides of the chicken is browned and crispy.
- Reduce the heat to medium low and continue cooking until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature of 165 degrees F).
- Remove from the heat. Top with the lemon juice. Let the chicken sit for 5 minutes. Then serve and enjoy!
Notes
- Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the chicken reaches 165°F for safe consumption.
- Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container, consuming within five days.
