Description
Using a whole wheat tortilla provides a thin, flexible crust that crisps up nicely in the oven. The marinara spreads evenly as a base layer, topped with melted mozzarella cheese and lean turkey pepperoni slices that bring savory, slightly spicy notes. The dried oregano and crushed red pepper flakes add herbal and heat accents.
Baking at a high temperature quickly melts the cheese and crisps the tortilla edges without drying out the toppings. Letting the pizza rest briefly after baking allows the cheese to set slightly for easier slicing and eating.
Ingredients
- 1 whole wheat tortilla La Tortilla Factory Low Carb brand
- 2 ounces mozzarella cheese Trader Joe's Lite brand
- 3 tablespoons marinara sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon oregano dried
- 1 crushed red pepper pinch
- 8 lices turkey pepperoni
- 1 pray canola oil spray
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- Assemble your pizza by spreading the marinara on top of the tortilla.
- Add the mozzarella cheese, then pepperoni.
- Top with oregano and crushed red pepper.
- Spray very quickly with canola oil spray (a half second spray)
- Bake for 5-7 minutes, until bubbly and browned.
- Let sit for 2-3 minutes before eating.
