These Turkey Sloppy Joes are a healthier take on a timeless American classic while still being super delicious. This wholesome and family friendly dish will satisfy kids and adults alike!

Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 onion, diced
- 1/2 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 ounce can tomato sauce
- 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- salt and pepper to taste
- 4 sandwich buns or rolls (optional)
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large sauté pan over medium heat.
- Add the onion and cook for 3-5 minutes or until soft.
- Add the bell pepper, carrot and celery and continue cooking for 3 minutes.
- Add the ground turkey and cook for 5 minutes or until meat is cooked through.
- Add the tomato sauce and Worcestershire sauce and cook for 10 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper.
- Spoon the turkey mixture onto hamburger buns or your choice of sandwich rolls, and serve.
Notes
- Prepare the turkey mixture in advance and store it in the refrigerator for up to two days. Reheat it on the stove or in the microwave before assembling your sandwiches.
- Freeze the turkey mixture for up to three months. Thaw it in the refrigerator before reheating and serving.
